The Challenge To Enjoy

This morning my mother commented about enjoying the moment. This was as she was flying out the door to run some errands before a meeting. That got me thinking. Yesterday I spoke of making golden moments during this Christmas season. Sometimes all you need to do to make a golden moment is to enjoy the moment you are in.

We get so caught up with all that needs done and the places we need to go that we forget the moment we are in. Each minute you live is a gift from God. You only get to live it once. We should be grateful for each gift of time and enjoy what God has given us.

It does not matter whether you are stirring a pot of spaghetti sauce, reading a story to your toddler’s stuffed monkey, running an errand, fighting with a computer, or working, you can enjoy the moment if you choice to. You can decide that you will thank God for the thing in front of you and you will look for the positive in it.

You are the only one who controls your enjoyment of something because you control your attitude. Attitude has a lot to do with enjoyment. When we have a good attitude about something we will like it a lot better than when we have a bad attitude. You have to go into each moment with a positive attitude and attitude of enjoyment. You must keep up that positive attitude, for it is a lot easier to maintain a good attitude than regain a good attitude.

When things get busy and things seem to be falling apart, refuse to lose your good attitude. Give thanks for whatever you are doing. Gratitude helps stay positive and then choice to find something to enjoy in the moment, if nothing else you can enjoy being alive for no one enjoys being dead. Staying in the presences of the Lord also helps your attitude. As Psalm 16:11 says, “In thy presence is fulness of joy, at thy right hand there are pleasures forever more.” God’s joy will bring you through every crazy or hard moment and allow you to enjoy the moment.

When you go into things with an attitude of enjoyment you will be surprised at what you find enjoyable. Things that before you always thought annoying, irritating, or miserable. It becomes a challenge. A challenge to find something enjoyable about sitting in rush hour traffic, standing in line at the store, doing the same thing over and over again, taking care of chores around the house, or whatever the moment in front of you brings. Will you find something to enjoy or will you lose and be miserable?

I am very competitive. The concept of a challenge gets me every time. As soon as it is a challenge, I have to complete it. Challenge me to find something enjoyable in a moment and I will. You may not be as competitive, but something motivates you. Find what that is and then channel that motivation to enjoying every moment.

Enjoy every moment you have this Christmas season. Each moment will only come once so make the most of them. Maintain a positive attitude through every situation. Stay in the presence of God and tap into His joy. The challenge is on. Be a winner. Enjoy the moments.
