Have you ever wondered where the wind comes from? Have you ever wondered where it goes? Have you ever wondered how it makes waves in the snow? Have you even noticed that it does?
Our lives are so busy and so full that we seldom notice the amazing things that happen around us every day. We do not see the touch of God’s hand on earth. Children are about the only ones who stop and wonder at the little miracles and beauties of life. The internet, devices, and fast pace world of 21st century America consume us. Somehow, I do not think we are the first people consumed and so busy that we do not stop to wonder. When I read my Bible it seems that few people had time to stop and wonder that God came to earth as a baby.
Emmanuel, God with us. When the baby called Emmanuel was born few stopped to wonder, some did. This month, thousands of people will discuss Emmanuel, thousands will see things to remember His birth, and thousands will sing songs of His birth, but how many will stop and wonder at it? For it is truly a wondrous thing. It boggles my mind to think that the all-powerful, all-knowing, God would come to earth as a poor helpless Baby. That is truly a wonder. It is awesome, amazing, and leaves you asking why? It incapsulates all that the word wonder means. It is even more a wonder when you consider that He knew He should die on a cross as the result of His coming.
“I wonder as I wander out under the sky
How Jesus the Saviour did come for to die
for poor on’ry people like you and like I;
I wonder as I wander out under the sky.
“If Jesus had wanted for any wee thing
a star in the sky or a bird on the wing
Or all of God’s angels in Heaven to sing
He surely could have it, ‘cause He was the King.
“I wonder as I wander out under the sky
How Jesus the Savior did come for to die
For poor on’ry people like you and like I;
I wonder as I wander out under the sky.”
Stop and take the time to wonder as you are under the sky, how Jesus the Savior did come for to die.
